Prophecy vs Divination

Prophecy comes from the will of God.. Any other supernaturally obtained information is divination and comes from the enemy. That's as simple as it can be put. Now, let us delve more into some important details and bible verses as well.

2 Peter 1:21

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Divination is more along the lines of crystal balls, tarot cards, psychic phenomena, and other occultic practices aimed at foreseeing the future, or obtaining supernaturally sought information or insight, or communication with spirits, "angel guides" ( an angelic way the new age tries to bait such harmful practices ) etc.

Prophecy is more like Noah finding out from God about the great flood that had yet to come.. He obtained information about the future, supernaturally, directly from God, but by the will of God and the will of God only. That is the difference. So yes, prophecy can be a foretelling of the future, but told by God and not a familiar spirit, or any other form of fallen angel.

Numbers 12:6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.

Job 33:14-18 shows us that God can speak to us in dreams and visions. We can also get prophecy that way, as proven by the story in Matthew about the Angel that tells about the birth of Christ before it happens through a dream.

Job 33:14-18 KJV
For God speaketh once, Yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, When deep sleep falleth upon men, In slumberings upon the bed; Then he openeth the ears of men, And sealeth their instruction, That he may withdraw man from his purpose, And hide pride from man. He keepeth back his soul from the pit, And his life from perishing by the sword.

Another example of prophecy is when an angel of the Lord appears and tells of a future baby Jesus, yet to be born, before it happened.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

Biblical warning against divination:

Deuteronomy 18:10

There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,..

I believe it is important to view as many versions of the bible as possible, to see all the translations, and use thesaurus and dictionary tools and the encyclopedia to learn more and get a broad understanding of the topic. It helps to understand the words and what the scripture is talking about more.

Here is a good tool and loaded for Deuteronomy 18:10 to do such a study: https://biblehub.com/deuteronomy/18-10.htm

I am a firm and loyal believer in and supporter of Wikipedia. Everyone hates on it, because of the socialist propaganda that teaches you the lie that there is no mainstream truth... The sources are valid, I check them. The are coming from 99% academic journals, and scholarly sources, using tools a university or college would suggest for sourcing for papers and citations, scholar.google.com, jstor.org, researchgate.net etc. Just anyone can write them, but the people who do, are very talented, and do it for the cause. Socialist hate team work and trust, so they seek to sabotage everything, and rig in in their favor, while oppressing you and stealing away what is rightfully yours. Everything is not fake, and the internet is a perfectly valid source for information if you know where to look, and how to avoid socialist propaganda.
